I became hooked on
magic at age 12, when I read my first magic book, Classic
Secrets of Magic, by magician Bruce Elliott. I was fascinated
by magic then, and still am today after studying and performing
magic for more than 40 years.
My family relocated a number of times while I was growing
up. But wherever I lived, I always found the area magic shops
and made them my second home. Even through college—I
graduated from Yale College with a major in history—I
devoted quite a bit of time to magic.
Eventually, I decided to make magic my full-time profession.
All-Around Magic
I specialize in children's and family
magic, as well as adult magic, and have developed completely
different shows for different age groups and functions. But
no matter where I'm performing, or for whom, my hallmark is
combining comedy, lots of audience interaction and award-winning
magic for maximum entertainment.
I have performed at all types of venues and events, from the
White House lawn to the streets of Old Town Alexandria, from
children's birthday parties to the corporate boardroom, from
intimate close-up strolling magic to corporate banquets (see
clients).
I'm a member of both the International Brotherhood of Magicians
(IBM) and the Society of American Magicians (SAM), and a past
president of local SAM Assembly 23. I've been named "DC
Magician of the Year" five times by my magic peers (years
2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2010) in the annual magic competition
sponsored by the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Ring
50.
